EDGE OF DAWN ( Midnight Breed Book 11) by LARA ADRIAN

Lara Adrian does not beat around the bush. Edge of Dawn, much like the 10 previous Midnight Breed Series books, is action and intrigue from the first paragraph to the last written word.

It's twenty years now since First Dawn, the day the Breeds were outed to the human race. Constant turmoil still exists between both races. Lucan Thorne is the leader of the Breed and along with his elite Breed Warriors, he attempts to keep some sort of tranquility between the races. Most of the original Breed males and their Breedmates have been sent all over the country, Canada and Europe to oversee the Breed communities. In Boston, Chase and his Breedmate, Tavia are leaders and have a growing group of Breed Warriors among the population. Gifted Breedmate, Mira is all grown up now and with an incredible chip on her shoulder that consistently causes her strife. Mira still mourns the death of her best friend and lover, Kellan Archer, who was killed in an explosion eight years ago. She is now the leader of a  group of Breed warriors who police the streets and attempt to keep the harmony between the homo sapiens population and the Breed. Rebels are a constant worry for them as both the government and Lucan's Breed want peace, but peace sometimes comes at a great cost.

After Mira goes after a supposed rebel in a very public manner, she is chastised by Lucan and relieved of her duty as Captain of her team. He gives her the assignment of escorting human scientist, Jeremy Ackmeyer from Boston to Washington D.C. for the huge peace conference set to take place there, but when Mira arrives at Ackmeyer's home, Hell breaks loose when both Mira and Ackmeyer are abducted by rebels. When Mira realizes that the rebel leader Bowman is in fact her beloved  Kellan Archer, she is shocked and angered by his eight year disappearance, but cannot push aside her feelings for him. Kellan never wanted to hurt Mira, but he could never really stay far away. Once back from the "dead", Kellan doesn't know if he can let Mira go now that he has her back, but the horror he saw in Mira's eyes the day he was believed to have perished in the fire, may be too much for him to deal with.

Unbeknownst to Breed or human, a conspiracy is being hatched by other entities that would put every Breed in jeopardy with a new UV weapon that was invented with Jeremy Ackmeyer's stolen technology. Bowman's rebels have first hand knowledge of how destructive this technology is and they have been trying to stop it from starting an all out war between the species, but Bowman/Kellan is on the wrong side of the law. No matter how this game is played someone will end up hurt, because Kellan could very well be branded as a traitor and convicted of crimes he may or may not have done. How will Lucan's Breed warriors and their families deal with the possibility of war? Will Mira and Kellan be reunited or be torn apart by Kellan's unscrupulous exile from his family and friends? Do you seriously think I would tell you? February 26th isn't that far off.

*GASP*  Edge of Dawn is amazing! This continuation of the indomitable Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed Series changes everything. No longer are humans the only danger to the Breed. This exciting new turn of events breathes a new and cutting edge air to this favorite series of mine. The twenty year jump in time brings us awesome new characters, like Lucan and Gabrielle's son Darion, who in my opinion is destined for greatness, and our not so old friends like Hunter who is such a presence among the Breed. Lara's innate sense for story-telling kept Edge of Dawn in my hands until I read the very last word. As usual, I eagerly but not patiently await the next installment of the Midnight Breed Series by Lara Adrian, although I will not tell her to hurry because greatness cannot be rushed.

CARDWELL RANCH TRESPASSER by B.J. DANIELS

Dana Cardwell Savage and her handsome Marshall husband, Hud Savage have a good life now. After a difficult beginning they are a strong couple with four beautiful children and a happy home. Dana's upbringing with her siblings was a tad off-colored and not as close as she would have liked it to have been, so when she finds that she has a cousin on the Justice side of the family she knew nothing about, she invites the cousin to stay with her family to become acquainted.

Right off the bat we know that Dee Anna Justice is going to be trouble with a capital "T". She may look like Dana, but there is something dark about this woman who claims to be the Cardwell cousin and Dana's best friend, Hilde Jacobson has her number. When Dee realizes that Hilde is going to be a problem, she attempts to push Hilde into the river but saves her at the last second. Hilde says nothing to Dana but she is worried that this cousin, if she even is a cousin , is up to no good and wants Hud for herself. Dee Anna is a brilliant liar in Hilde's estimation and she has Dana easily wrapped around her finger.

Hilde enlists the help of Deputy Marshall Colt Dawson, who has a huge crush in Hilde, in finding out what Dee Anna Justice is all about. Even though Hilde has turned him down when he asked her out, Colt has feelings for the honest and hardworking store owner and is the only one who believes her when issues start happening. The deeper Dee Anna becomes with the Cardwell- Savage family, the more dangerous things become and Hilde will put nothing passed this stranger who has invaded this peaceful home. Lives will be at stake if only Hilde can get her best friend to listen to her instead of Dana thinking that blood is thicker than true friendship.

Never have I begun a book knowing right off that the first character I meet is evil and twisted and she going to end up tearing a good family apart and there's nothing you can do about it. This is typical B.J. Daniels, who immerses you right in her story kicking and screaming along the way. B.J. evokes such emotion that I'm completely sucked in as usual even though I know things are going completely awry. I love that the secondary story is always just as amazing as the main one and I fall  for her characters intensely. Even though Hilde is as skittish as a fish she comes to realize that there is much more to Colt that she originally thought and following him down his path isn't a bad thing at all. I loved this book and I know you will as well!

GUEST REVIEW by Lisa Marie ~ BEAUTIFUL BASTARD by Christina Lauren

Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren (2 women conducting this masterpiece) originated as a FanFic of Twilight, and being a full on, card carrying member, out and proud Twi-hard I was all over this book. Now anyone who has read the Twilight Saga knows that it was written for Young Adults, and much like Harry Potter, it is enjoyed by people of all ages. But on a scale from the Hallmark Channel to Skinomax, it still falls in the "can show it before the kids go to bed" category. The story originated on an online fan fiction web site under the title "The Office" and was a whole new take on the "what if Edward and Bella were human" love story.

Chloe Mills is an intern at a very large marketing firm, months away from completing her Masters Degree. All she has to do it tough it out for just a little while longer, and then she can get away from her "beautiful" bastard of a boss, all the while fighting her growing desire to get him alone, naked, and under her thumb for once. Bennett Ryan, aforementioned bastard, has been fighting his attraction to Chloe since the first day he met her. These two never stop arguing throughout the whole book and that is just how passionate their relationship is. Now Bennett is a notorious he-whore and has never found anyone he has wanted to open his hear to, and Chole has never been the kind of girl to have any type of casual fling. The inner conflict going on between these two is so angsty that you just want to reach in the book and yell SNAP OUT OF IT! The chapters alternate between the two while continually telling the story so I felt like I got the "his, hers and truth" side of everything.

If you are looking for a sexy (you will never look at your panties the same way again), romantic, angsty, laugh out loud funny book, then ding ding ding, winner winner chicken dinner! You will truly enjoy this book and I am looking forward to their next work, "Beautiful Stranger". Hopefully we get to see the brother find his own happily ever after.

Julie Prestsater's STRADDLING THE EDGE Cover Reveal

DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!! Here is the new cover for Julie Prestater's Straddling the Edge! Join in the Rafflecopter Giveaway that Julie is hosting to win Amazon Gift Cards!!!

Summer McGallian … the scandalous home wrecker from Against the Wall and Between The Sheets.   The one who stole her co-worker’s fiancĂ©, the other woman, the one people whisper about and stay away from. Only for Summer, things aren't always as they appear and she knows that better than anyone. She hasn’t been herself since she was in high school, when life was less complicated and relationships weren’t about making compromises to land the guy. When her heart is broken, there's only one thing left for her to do … prove she isn't who everyone thinks she is. And maybe, just maybe, she can get back to being comfortable in her own skin again, without input from a man. But when she encounters Hot Guy, Dean Michaels, everything Summer has ever known about the opposite sex is about to change.

Dean Michaels knew he’d seen her somewhere before. What he never imagined was that the gorgeous woman in a baseball cap and hooded sweatshirt tossing back a beer in his favorite spot could be Summer McGallian—the woman who always looked like she’d stepped off the pages of a glamour magazine when he’d seen her from afar at work. And to make matters worse, she’s Chase Marino’s ex, the one guy who gets under his skin like no other. If the thought of being someone’s bitch in jail wasn’t enough to scare him, he would’ve strangled that bastard years ago and tossed the body in the Mojave Desert. But forget about Chase … Dean knew from the moment he saw Summer’s sexy smile and heard her cute laugh, she had to be his. And he won't let anything get in the way of that.

The Against The Wall series isn’t just about steamy sex scenes and swoon-worthy romance, but about new friendships, undying love, and a ton of laughter. Enjoy the ride as you get to know and love Summer and Dean, just as you did Shelly and Matt, and Melissa and Tyler, in the final book, Straddling The Edge. Thank you to all of the blogs who have participated in the STRADDLING THE EDGE COVER Reveal.

THE NOTORIOUS LADY ANNE by SHARON CULLEN

Nicholas Addison has an extreme distaste for pirates. His mission is to find out for his current employers who is plundering the Blackwell Shipping Fleet and bring them down. The handsome but injured former British Navy man sets out from London by sea to Boston to discover who has been pirating the ships, rumor has it that a female pirate, known as Lady Anne is the culprit, but Captain Addison does not believe in pirates, little alone a female one.

While still in London, Nicholas becomes acquainted briefly with Mrs. Emmaline Sutherland at a ball. He finds her to be very different than most of the females he has ever known. Emmaline in bold and outspoken and quite confuses the man, but that's all right, Nicholas won't see her again, right? Wrong, the very next day, Mrs. Sutherland winds up as the Captain's sole passenger for the trip, and this is where the adventure begins.

Emmaline Sutherland is no simpering female, and she is much more than Captain Addison could ever have imagined. Emmaline Sutherland is in fact the Notorious Lady Anne who knows a thing or two about sailing and being a pirate. To Nicholas' dismay, Emmaline is on a collision course to destroy anything and everything belonging to Blackwell Shipping and she will go through anyone or anything to achieve that end. Romantic feeling aside, Nicholas has his mission and Emmaline has hers. When their paths cross, can either of these stubborn beings be deflected in their tasks? That, dear readers is part of the excitement in this book!

The Notorious Lady Anne by Sharon Cullen is a great read. Both Captain Addison and Mrs. Sutherland are strong personalities that shout for attention. There is action and adventure abounds in this tale as well as emotion on high. When Nicholas decides he's going to have Emmaline there is no changing his mind, and the strong and intelligent but very naive young pirate lady has little clue as to what is going on. I thoroughly enjoyed this high seas adventure with a kick and I am looking forward to more from Sharon Cullen.

Lead and Follow by Katie Porter (Club Devant book 1) A REVIEW BY GUEST REVIEWER ~ BARBARA HILL-KIDD

This book was recommended to me by a friend because she knows that I was involved with ballroom dancing(I did compete in Pro/Am in the 90’s and had a little success) and she thought I would enjoy it.  I did a little cringe because I usually don’t enjoy fiction involving this subject because I find so many errors.  YES, I know it is fiction but sometimes I just can’t get past the parts that were far from true.  I am very happy to say that this book is well written and well researched plus the sex scenes (m/f,m/m and m/f/m) are HOT.
Lizzie Maynes and Dima Turgenev are 3-Time World Latin Dance Champions, roommates, best friends and in their late twenties.  Lizzie has recently returned to their New York apartment and is acting out.  The couple is unsure of their dance future and their own feelings for one another.  Dima feels responsible for causing Lizzie’s injury although injuries happen, falls happen it is the way of a dancer’s life.  After Lizzie’s injury and recuperation, Dima became a headliner at Club Devant.  He is thriving, able to break-free of the strict rules of competitive dancing and let his artistic side loose.  Lizzie believes that Club Devant is little better than a burlesque club and that Dima is lowering himself performing there.  Lizzie believes that the partnership should prepare to make a run at a 4th Title.  Dima does not want to, he hopes that if Lizzie will attend a show that she will see the freedom that he is enjoying that she will agree to join him.
The night that Lizzie finally decides to attend Dima’s show she is so affected that she seduces a hunky bartender in Dima’s dressing room so that he walks in on the act.  Dima watches and then exits.  Lizzie soon decides that they should have a threesome.  Paul, the easy-going Texan, agrees and Dima introduces him to man on man sex.
Paul soon senses that Dima and Lizzie have true feelings for one another and that his role is a bit of a buffer between them as they attempt to find a way to communicate their feelings to one another.   There are many scenes in which our dancers cannot seem to communicate their thoughts or feelings.  Lizzie soon begins working with the choreographer at Club Devant secretly in preparation to take over the role as Dima’s partner in hopes of connecting to the good parts of their life.  There is a happy ending to the story.

I will admit that I found the characters a bit frustrating at times, Lizzie and Dima have been together since they were thirteen.  In the dance world this is common where teen partners are raised as brother/sister and then they are portrayed as lovers and some marry but few happily.  I found Lizzie to be immature, out of control and seemingly difficult to be with.  Dima is portrayed as a closed off soul. Damaged by his parents descent into alcoholism and he is a control freak.  After all of the years together, I just found it very difficult that they could not vocalize their fears/feelings and concerns.  Paul is so easy going that I felt sorry that he was pulled into the maelstrom of the partners life.  Yes, he did benefit from the sexual lessons and he turned out to be the most even-headed of the group.
This is a very well written book with clearly written characters.  The sex scenes are hot and they are expanded which I really enjoyed.  I would recommend the book even if you have no interest in ballroom because it is well written.

(3 Orgasms and I am torn between 2 and 3 stars- I think my downgrading to 2 is due to my frustration with the inability to communicate but I think someone who isn’t into the dance world would give it 3)

Yes, Caleb stays away for long periods of time from the family, using his Ranger work as his excuse.

When Caleb arrives to evict the blacksmith, he is stunned to discover Rory Foster is not a man, but a very stubborn woman who is not going to stay quiet and allow Caleb to evict her. Rory Foster AKA Aurora, is a widowed blacksmith trying to survive on the land her father left her. The Circle Eight: Caleb is the culmination of years of struggle with the Graham family and their loved ones. How one family attempts to continue on when so much tragedy has befallen them and rise once again in the midst of the country even better than before is a gift, and only can be told as such my Emma Lang AKA Beth Williamson. Caleb proves that family overcomes all adversity. With Emma Lang's strong and colorful characters, the Graham legacy promises to continue on, and excitedly so. I love the Grahams, they are gutsy and enjoyable and always a pleasure to meet. I loved The Circle Eight: Caleb and I know you will all as well.

About two years ago when I first met Beth Williamson in person at my first Lora Leigh’s RAW weekend, I was given the first book in the

When I returned home from the conference and delved into Matthew, I was so taken with this story. To this date, and 3 books into the Circle Eight series, I feel like a part of the family and eagerly await each book like a child waiting for Santa Claus at Christmas.
