Samantha Kane's ~ TEMPTING A DEVIL ~

Having read Samantha Kane's THE DEVIL'S THIEF at the end of 2012, I was so eager to to read the second book in her series TEMPTING A DEVIL. This series is not your ordinary Regency Romance, these books are sizzling and provocative.

In TEMPTING A DEVIL, we  meet Harriet Mercer, who after marrying up, but to an older and uncaring man, contentedly becomes a widow several years later. Harriet has a beautiful son from her disastrous marriage albeit not in  the traditional way, and will do anything to protect him. Since her arrival in London, she has been plagued by the unlikable Mr. Faircloth, who wants to marry Harriet in order to possess who wealth. Harriet decides on a plan to thwart Faircloth efforts. Since Faircloth's father would only accept a bride with a stellar reputation, Harriet has concocted a scheme to diminish hers. She wants a lover to ruin her reputation, but also to learn from because Harriet's marriage was a desolate misadventure that left her wanting.

Enter indomitable Rogue, Roger Templeton, a man with a less than stellar reputation. He lives day to day and by the kindness of friends and the generosity of his conquests. Roger and Harriet were childhood friends, long separated by the time he spies her attempting to seduce a man at a party. Before he realizes that it is his childhood friend, he is attracted to the beauty and desires her for his extracurricular activities. When Harriet sees Roger as the perfect Rogue for her purposes, Roger is uncertain he wants to fulfill her needs. As tempting as Harriet is to Roger, and vice-versa, they are not meant to be. Roger is the ultimate rogue with no means to live and Harriet wants never to be tied down in an unhappy marriage again.

When Roger thwarts a would-be kidnapping of Harriet's son, he finds a few reasons to have Harriet in his sights and those luscious curves and her sultry beauty have him falling. He harbors some animosity that Harriet marry for money, not knowing the circumstances, nor did he know that Lord Mercer could not father his own child so he had Mr. Faircloth do the deed. Getting Faircloth out of her life without forever damaging those around her part of the charm of this great story.

TEMPTING A DEVIL by Samantha Kane is a great follow-up in the Saint's Devils series. Ms Kane's interesting cast of characters add to the allure of the story. Roger Templeton, although the rogue, shows a side to him that no one expects, especially where his childhood friend is concerned. Harriet has overcome great adversity in her short life, become a loving mother and a force to be reckoned with. I hope you all give Samantha Kane's,  Saint's Devils series a go. TEMPTING A DEVIL is a compelling read.

MICHELLE BOONE'S REVIEW OF VIPER ~ SONS OF SANGUE BY PATRICIA A. RASEY

Kane 'Viper' Tepes is one of the oldest living descendants of Vlad III. Vampirism is in his blood. So is being the President of the Sons of Sangue. Those who break motorcycle club rules that protect their coven are dealt swift punishment. No exceptions. Until one pretty little detective has him compromising his beliefs, and endangering his position as head of the MC.
Vampirism had Cara Brahnam turning tail and leaving behind her life in Pleasant. Now, ten years later, she's back as lead detective and wants to see the person responsible for draining the women of Lane County brought to justice, no matter what deal the gang of miscreants has struck with the sheriff. Or the fact that her number one suspect is the sole reason she fled in the first place.
Now someone has targeted Cara as the next victim and Kane must join in the hunt to find the ancient vampire that wants her dead.

In this very intriguing story Miss Rasey builds a world within our world. She gives such vivid descriptions of each and every character, that as a reader you can picture clearly what each man and woman looks like. The alpha hero is so incredibly gorgeous and arrogant you want to smack him and at the same time be the heroine who gets to kiss him and so much more. The heroine, Cara, is his match in every way. When Viper finally falls and falls hard for her, you can’t help but sigh in happiness. Add in he has a twin, and several other members of his group, and you can’t help but want more.
I was hooked from the very beginning with the opening scene of the book, all the way to the very end. She mixed in all the things I think makes an incredible story. A great plot. Hot men. Danger. And incredible sex with said hot man J. By the end of the story Miss Rasey had me thinking about the next book, then the one after that and so on. I sincerely hope she has already started on Viper’s twin Kaleb’s story, because I can only imagine it is going to be another great, steamy read.

VALERIE COZART'S GUEST REVIEW OF ~ THE CIRCLE EIGHT ~ VAUGHN by EMMA LANG/ BETH WILLIAMSON

Elizabeth Graham is no wilting violet…she’s a Graham and anyone who knows the Grahams knows they are a tight knit family full of deep determination.  They love hard, work hard, and fight hard for what they believe is right.  To harm one Graham is to harm them all and this family of eight will go to hell and back, willing to sacrifice all, if just one of their dear family members are in trouble.

Elizabeth is twenty-one and on her way to being a spinster.  Not that she is completely against the idea of having a man there just aren’t many men to choose from where she lives.  At least that is until fate drops Vaughn Montgomery in her lap or rather naked on her doorstep.  The only problem is Vaughn is a con man and Elizabeth can see right through him.  But Elizabeth can’t turn her back on a man in need, as much as she’d like to because she just knows this one is trouble, so she brings him into her families home and nurses him back to health.  Before long she’s in deep like with Vaughn and he is starting to fall in love with her.  But Vaughn has a lot of trouble following him and that trouble is just about to come calling and threaten everything Elizabeth loves.

Emma Lang’s Circle of Eight series just keeps getting better and better.  Each book allows the reader to visit with the Graham family and spend a little time in the past imagining what it would be like to live in the wild west with a pioneer spirit and a willingness to do what it takes to allow your family to not only survive but thrive.  I absolutely love this family and can’t wait for the next book.   Not only is Vaughn well written and entertaining, like many of this series I always learn something new about the past.  Emma Lang does her research and her love of westerns shows through in all of her books.  I have to give this book a solid 5 stars.  I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did.

VIPER: THE SONS OF SANGUE (Book 1) by PATRICIA A. RASEY

Before I give you my synopsis and review I must tell you all that it has been a while since I have gone and read a new paranormal romance. I have my mainstays, and I am now very picky with what I pick up, because if you saw my TBR pile, you would run for the hills... yup, that bad. So I put down my Highlanders and my Cowboys for a bit and I picked up Viper: Sons of Sangue by Patricia A. Rasey. Needless to say, I was a goner from the first scene... a very hotttt one at that. Not only do we have extremely attractive Vampires, but these Vampires are in a motorcycle gang. BRILLIANT.

We meet Kane  (Viper) Tepes and Kaleb (Hawk) Tepes, descendants of Vlad (the Impaler) Tepes III, yes, THAT Vlad Tepes. They also are the President and Vice President of the Sons of Sangue a Motorcycle Club in the wilds of Oregon.

Trouble comes to town when someone or something is draining women of every drop of blood they have and leaving them haphazardly buried in the forests of Pleasant, Oregon. Detective Cara Brahnam, has recently come back to town after leaving in fear, several years before. Her eyes could not deceive her when she found Kane Tepes, ten years ago, feeding from a woman. Vampires can't exist! Can they? Well Cara hightailed it out of Pleasant but returned ten years later after an unpleasant situation with a superior officer leaves a bad taste in her mouth.

Cara is determined  to solve the murders of these women, who coincidentally have similar features to her, blonde hair and blue eyes.  When Cara and her partner attempt to question members of the Sons of Sangue, she isn't all that shocked to see that Viper hasn't changed a smidgen in 10 years, but is shocked to find herself attracted to this bad boy. Viper on the other hand is in denial. He can't be attracted to Detective Brahnam since it would go against so many of the MC's (Motorcycle Club) rules.

Things become insanely dangerous when Viper realizes that it's a primordial (an original Vampire) that is murdering the women, and Cara is not safe from its wrath. In fact, no one is safe.

I'd say I was a tad enthusiastic in my summary, but totally necessary. What a fabulous story. Patricia A. Rasey knows how to grab the reader and not let go. Her motley crew of bad-ass bikers leaves the reader wanting more. Viper: Sons of Sangue (Book 1) by Patricia A. Rasey is high octane. A must read for all paranormal fans..

BOC CHRISTMAS IN JULY WITH ~ T'WAS THE NIGHT AFTER CHRISTMAS by SABRINA JEFFRIES

IT'S A SABRINA JEFFRIES CHRISTMAS IN JULY!!!!

When Pierce Waverly, the Earl of Devonmont receives a letter from his mother's companion that says it's dire he sees his mother before it's too late, Camilla Stuart has no idea the trouble she has set in motion as she lacks the knowledge as to why the Earl has been estranged from his mother and feels it's more his petulance than anything else that keeps him far from Lady Devonmont.

Pierce has not had an idyllic upbringing. Having been sent away to a boarding school at eight years of age by his indifferent father, the late Earl, he blames both his parents for their abandonment. Once his father passes away and Pierce becomes the Earl of Devonmont, he purposely distances himself from his mother and anything having to do with his family. He has a bit of a reputation as a rake, but he truly isn't happy with his existence.

Widow of a pastor, Camilla Stuart has become an essential part of Lady Devonmont's household, but when she oversteps the boundaries with the Earl and his mother, she may put her position in jeopardy and that would be a very bad thing considering she has her six year old son, Jasper to think about. Unbeknownst to the Earl of Devonmont, his mother's companion has been hiding her son from his household and his manager for fear she would be dismissed.

Once the Earl arrives and discovers his mother is not at death's door as he believed , Pierce wants to take the widow to task for her deception and run as far as he can from his mother, but when Camilla and Pierce strike a bargain so that Pierce stays to have dinner with his mother, a series of events are set into motion that not only throw Pierce in his mother's presence, but finds him seeking out Camilla's company. Even better, when the Earl finds Camilla's hidden son, he must set aside the animosity about his own childhood to be in the company of the endearing little boy.

The more time Pierce spends in his childhood home, the more facts begin to come out about the abandonment he went through as a child. Pierce struggles with his ill feelings towards his mother, and a budding relationship with the intoxicating Camilla, but can the Earl set aside his pain and let Camilla into his heart, or will he ruin the only chance he has at true love with his blatant disregard for propriety. Of course you will have to read T'was the Night After Christmas by Sabrina Jeffries to find out.

I really enjoyed this holiday themed book by Sabrina Jeffries. T'was the Night After Christmas is agitating and heartwarming all in one colorful package. Watching the difficult Earl lose his battle against forgiveness is a wonderful ride. Camilla's little Jasper chips away at the ice that has formed around Pierce's heart to allow him to become the man he always should have been. Camilla, although a meddling chit turns out to be a savior of sorts as she stands up for herself after having an equally disturbing childhood as the Earl. Her demand for respect is refreshing and only adds to the charm of this tale.

TRINITY BLACIO'S SUMMERTIME IS HERE!!!!! AWESOME GIVEAWAY!!! COMMENT TO WIN

Hot, Hot, and More Heat
With summer upon us, we all expect a little heat, but lately I think Mother Nature has decided we need to really sweat. I mean come on, one hundred and seventeen in Las Vegas? Hell, we were in the nineties for the past four days and I thought I was going to die. Oh, I live in Ohio, in case you didn’t know. Even Alaska is experiencing a heat wave.
Hello, Mother Nature, can you hear me? Can you please tone the dial down a little? Sigh, I don’t think she’s listening. So, to celebrate summer and all its hotness, I’m giving away a summer basket full of goodies: nail polish, file, nail polish remover, everything you need to give yourself a nice pedicure to look great on the beach. A few other things were thrown into the pot, too: chocolate, alcohol (adults only), and of course, one of my print books.

Now it’s my turn to increase the heat with my new release, Surrender Your Independence. Why not sit back while your toe and finger nails are drying and read this hot short story.

Blurb: Tamara Crozier, an Army registered nurse with one tour of Afghanistan behind her, just wants a night on the beach, holiday fireworks and some quiet time to unwind. What she got was way more than she expected. Could she surrender her heart, soul and independence to the two men, or whatever they call themselves?
Gage Evans and Lars Cooper were not only members of the Other Unit, they were also lovers. When Gage decided it was time for them to relax and enjoy the holiday, neither of them expected to find their consort sitting in the lobby of the hotel they’d booked.
Could they help her forget the nightmares of her past? Would she embrace their dark love?
Or, if you like your tales longer and hotter, why not try my first story in the new series, Masters of the Cats: Collaring the Saber-Tooth.

Blurb: Light years away, the Tetraheros came together. Their creation, the Cometedge race, is on the verge of extinction, even with the female companions provided to them throughout the years. Meanwhile one lone rogue has tried to wipe out the feline shifter population on Earth. There was only one solution: The Cometedge Pact. Three warriors are bound to every female, connecting two separate races through a sense of duty, blood, sex, and love.
Contest rules: Just leave me a little note below on what you are doing to stay cool this summer and your email to be entered. For a second shot at winning, review any of my books anywhere and post the link here. I’ll even pick a runner-up who can choose any one of my books and I’ll send a PDF copy to you. Remember, contest ends July 10. Good luck!
