Timeless Moments: The Final Chapter (Timeless Tales, #5) by Ruth A. Casie , Lita Harris, Emma Kaye , Nicole S. Patrick , Julie Rowe , Hope Ramsay (Introduction)

Greetings all! Today in the #BOC Spotlight, we have an anthology of tales by a wonderful group of women. Although it is a holiday themed fare, it can most definitely be read anytime. I had a few of my great team reviewers pick a story that called out to them and write something about it. So without further ado, TIMELESS MOMENTS (The Final Chapter).

In the quaint seaside town of Havenport, Rhode Island, five couples find their happily ever afters with a little help from the romance section of The Final Chapter bookstore. Ruth A. Casie I'll Be Home for Christmas What does a best-selling romance author do when she's lost her muse? Maybe a handsome stranger holds the key. Or maybe he's her worst nightmare. Lita Harris Winter Wonderland A college student's future takes an unexpected turn when she visits her aunt's bookstore and meets a new stranger in town. Emma Kaye Baby, It's Cold Outside She read the spell "To Bring Forth True Love" for entertainment, not expecting a nineteenth century sailor to appear at her side. So what can she do when her soul mate shows up, but doesn't want to stay? Nicole S. Patrick White Christmas A traumatized prosecutor laying low for the holidays makes an unexpected connection to a former Marine. He's trying to rebuild his life, and she wants to get back to the one she left. Can they face each new day as it comes...together? Julie Rowe Merry Christmas, Baby A marine biologist moving back to her home town after the break-up of her marriage doesn't expect to run into her high school crush (literally) only days after returning, or to discover he's not the smooth operator she remembers.

White Christmas, by Nicole S. Patrick

Review by Isabel Almeida –

White Christmas is a Christmas short story taking place in Havenport, where Prosecutor Savannah Moore is spending holidays near her sister Augusta, in order to put herself together due to a violent attack she suffered and that almost took her life.
Savannah helps her sister in a pet care business, and tries to forget the fear, and the danger she had to face, and she is still uncertain about her professional future and needs to reconquer confidence in herself and in her life.
It ´s Christmas season and Santa wants to give our girl a gift, and the gift is Mac MacDonald, a sexy former Marine and now a car mechanic of the rich people of Havenport.
No used to be cared about for the person he really is, surprisingly he finds a level of understanding in Savannah, and the girl finds a lovable, strong, protect full and sexy guy in her way.
The author build up a simple but powerful story, we can feel the sexual tension flowing between the couple, and they start to feel attracted   by each other in a very natural and beautiful and romantic way, but showing both how strong they are.
But danger will come on their way, and they have to be even more resilient. I fell in love with these two, and would love to get to know them better, here´s a tip to Nicole J

__________________________________________________

I have just started this box-set and am totally loving it. These are fast pace reads that leave nothing out. For short stories the authors give you all the details you need with no unanswered questions. These are authors I haven't read before which for me was a delightful surprise how they fill the pages and make you fall in love with the characters. They bring you stories you will love and can relate to.

Julie Rowe ~ Merry Christmas, Baby
Is a very touching read whoever said you can't come home is wrong. Sometimes the one you left behind is the one you are meant to be with. This is a story about misunderstandings of how you believed things to be way back when. It is a shocker when these two find out they were on the same wave length all along missing out on many years they might have been happy in.

Charles is a delightful hunk of a man who has went through some trying times. He just needs the right girl to show him what love is all about. Mattie is walking away from a bad marriage from a man who put her down. These two must overcome a few issues before they can find their HEA.

The author puts a lot into a little time, she gives you a wonderful delightful read that pulls at your heartstrings. She fills the page with HOT passion just when you need your pages to burn up. Giving it just the right amount to make this one outstanding hot read.

You are so going to totally love and enjoy this box-set

Timeless Moments - Baby It's Cold Outside by Emmy Kaye ****
I selected this story from the group of novellas. It was an uplifting Christmas tale of time travel and romance, which are my favorite combinations.
In the beginning, I felt like I had to some how catch up since a few more pages of explanation were needed, as least for me.
Jane Caulfield time traveled with her brother Bastian two hundred years forward. Bastian was married to Winnie who came from the present. The couple have two children and are expecting a third.
Jane casts a spell from an old book and propels her true love Adam Royce forward. His hesitation on whether he will stay or return to his time is what keeps you wanting that HEA ending.
I did enjoy the story, although, I felt the shortness of the novella left something to be desired.

_________________________________________________________________________

Such a great fast paced read. This novel was written by 5 different authors about 5 different couples in one town, in one year, all at the same time. This was such a great read that really made my day. Although each couples story was short I didn't feel like I was missing out, these were some great short stories. These 5 romances managed to encompass almost all romance sub genres, suspense, firefighter, paranormal, the "grouch" and an overall happy ending. I fell for all of the characters but I have to say the last one was my favorite. I would definitely recommend these stories to anyone who is feeling a little blue about the holiday, needs to believe in good people, or wants their thoughts about love to be rekindled.

P.S. the last story has some sex.

The Wild One (The de Montforte Brothers #1) by Danelle Harmon

The Wild One is my first foray into Danelle Harmon's books and I am so pleasantly surprised that I have added this talented writer's books to my TBR list.

The second son of the De Montforte legacy, Charles, heads to the colonies to fight for the British crown. There he meets the love of his life, and before he has a chance to marry her, he becomes a casualty of war, leaving Juliet Paige an unwed mother as well as an out of place loyalist.

With her infant daughter Charlotte and a reserve of iron, Juliet crosses the ocean to seek help from Charles' family for Charlotte. Upon  her arrival in England, the coach she is traveling in is attacked by highwayman with no morals. Just as Juliet is about to be hurt, a lone rider appears to take on the group of criminals, saving the civilians, but becoming injured in the process. Juliet's survival instincts thrust her into action and she saves the handsome rider from imminent death.

Discovering that the hero is one of her beloved Charles' younger brother, Lord Gareth De Montforte shocks her system and has Juliet determined to do what she can for him. At Charles' bidding, Juliet seeks a meeting with Lucien, the Duke of Blackheath and eldest of the De Montforte family. She hopes for Lucien to become Charlotte's guardian. Her stressful meeting with the foreboding duke leaves so many questions unanswered for Juliet as Lucien does not decide right away if he will take on care of his niece. Lucien is grateful that Juliet helped save Gareth's life, but he is once again angered by the way Gareth has been wasting his life away acting the consummate rogue and wastrel.

Julian bids Juliet and Charlotte remain in residence at his family estate and while Gareth recovers, Juliet and he begin a kinship that confuses both of them. The duke has forbidden his wastrel brother from forming an attachment to Juliet, but emotions have a way of seeping in and causing all sorts of mischief. After Gareth plays the rogue once more and defaces a public statue with the cronies, he awakens from his drunken stupor finding Juliet and Charlotte have left and are on their way back to a ship to return them to Boston. Blaming his brother, the duke for this, Gareth chases off after Juliet hoping to convince her that marriage to him would be the only resolution.

The wedding is where all the fun begins with misinterpretations of feelings and deeds. This unlikely pair struggle to find ways to make their lives work and have meaning. They struggle with emotions that they keep bottled up inside, ones that need to come to light in order for understanding and healing to begin.

The Wild One is a wonderfully written tale. Ms. Harmon draws the reader in and never lets go. I adore how she brings the colonial woman and the English lord together and tugs at the heartstrings of this reader. Gareth's growth from rogue to husband and father is a fabulous tale and Juliet's maturity at a young age from all that has happened is a must read story. I highly recommend The Wild One and I personally can't wait for the next installment, especially after the shocking ending... FYI, I had a niggling feeling about the ending and I was right!  So go grab yourself a copy of the Wild One by Danelle Harmon and see for yourself!

Sutherland's Secret (Highland Pride #1) by Sharon Cullen

Following a meeting with the lairds and families of Scotland, Brice Sutherland, the Earl of Dornach and his men find a woman near death in a pile of tattered garments in the middle of the road towards home. When Brice sends his men on ahead home, his intentions of comforting the woman in her last probable hours is foremost in his thoughts. He never thought the battered and beaten lass would survive the night, but when she proves him wrong, his only choice is to take her to his home and nurse her back to health. Not knowing her identity could be the downfall could be dangerous, but the only honorable thing to do is help her.

English lady, Eleanor Hirst went from being the toast of the ton to a prisoner in a Scottish dungeon. Unbelievably, her jailers are none other than her own countryman. With her husband accused of being a traitor to the crown and Eleanor watching him hang before her eyes, a proposal by her husband's executioner leave her shocked and betrayed when her refusal to marry the man thrown in a cell and beaten for weeks, She seizes her chance to escape the horror, preferring to die free than at the hands of evil. Upon awakening in the forest with a strange Scot tending to her wounds, Eleanor finds herself without a voice and her future uncertain.

Understanding somewhat what's happened to the wounded woman, Brice tries to ease her fears. He brings her into his home and treats her with care, only to have her more confused. When the people who should very well be her enemy, harbor her from the man who caused her harm, Eleanor begins to blossom once again among her new comrades.

Brice's attraction to the English high born, widow could very well mean the end of him, but the call to Eleanor is a strong one and giving in is sweet ecstasy. How will two people from two different worlds at war with one another overcome not only that war, but the evil of the man seeking to extinguish the only proof that he is the traitor? When given the choice of returning to her family fold, or remaining with the man she has come so fiercely to love, will Eleanor choose love? Grab Sharon Cullen's latest great read, SUTHERLAND'S SECRET, to find out.

SUTHERLAND'S SECRET, the first book in the Highland Pride series is an attention grabber and keeper. This well written story with strong and interesting characters leaves me yearning for the next tale author Sharon Cullen has to offer. Brice Sutherland is tough as nails when it comes to those under his protection, but for as tough as he can be under the worst of circumstances he is as endearing, patient and compassionate with Eleanor. This woman has been though hell and back but with Brice's care, she blooms into the woman she never knew she could be, and that transformation is a sight to see. Definitely a winner for Sharon Cullen.

To Trust a Rogue (The Heart of a Duke Book 8) by Christi Caldwell

Heartbroken by love lost, Marcus Gray, the Viscount Wessex becomes the consummate rogue. Even eight years after his loss, the betrayal of losing the woman he thought loved him evades his thoughts and determines his actions. His mother and sister would have him wed, and his sibling, Lizzie, has just the woman in mind for her handsome brother. Trying to escape the machinations of his well-meaning family, Marcus tries to find solace with friends, but watching them all fall in love and wed, leaves Marcus with a bitter taste for what he could have been.

Eleanor Carlyle fled London after having been put through an abominable act. Leaving the only man she could ever love behind, changes the once vibrant young woman into a ghost of her former self. The one thing that makes her life worth living is the daughter she gives birth to once leaving London society behind.  Eight years later, she  is summoned back to town by her beloved aunt, the Duchess of Devonshire, who has offered the widowed Mrs. Eleanor Collins a position as her companion. Eleanor's aunt is getting on in years and would have her niece and great niece return to life after merely existing in the countryside.

Terrified of facing her past, Eleanor reluctantly returns to the family fold of her aunt's townhouse. But attempting to stay hidden from the outside world. is a task Aunt Dorothea is determined to quell. When Eleanor and daughter Marcia head for a walk outside at dear aunty's insistence, Eleanor comes face to face with Marcus Gray and the past quickly catches up with her. Once Marcus see the woman that Eleanor has become, the mother, the mature lady, the feelings he thought he could extinguish for her come rushing back full force. Try as she might to hide away behind her made up persona, but secrets have a tendency to chip away at the soul and keeping them from the one person who knows that something is just not right is in vain.

When confronted with the evil who took her life away, Eleanor can either run again, or stay and fight an uphill battle. The catharsis of telling Marcus her unhappy tale is a double edged sword because once Marcus understands that he has treated Eleanor with some disdain since her return, she still believes herself unworthy of a happy ending. Once the chips have fallen, Marcus will do anything to win Eleanor's trust and heart, even if he thinks he deserves neither.

Trying not to give away the entire story is so hard when it comes to a tale such as this one, which teems with the full spectrum of emotions. Christi Caldwell makes this reader chew her nails to the nub and shout out about the injustices these characters are forced to reckon with. When she was an innocent eighteen year old with her whole life ahead of her, one defining moment robbed Eleanor of her happiness. Out of that horrible tragedy, comes something so beautiful, in the form of the precious Marcia, who gives Eleanor the will to overcome the cards that were dealt her. Marcus Gray has come full circle and what a ride it is for him. The discovery of what truly kept him away from Eleanor encourages him to be the man he needs to be for her.

TO TRUST A ROGUE by the phenomenal,Christi Caldwell is sheer brilliance. Ms. Caldwell turns darkness into light with this second chance at love. Yes, it has profane darkness, but this darkness is  necessary if there is to be such bliss at the end. The darkness makes the journey to that bliss so much more important and meaningful. Having the chance to see Marcus confront that darkness makes his character all the more heroic and deserving of Eleanor. I love TO TRUST A ROGUE so much and give kudos to Christi Caldwell for tackling such a hard subject with such finesse. Bravo.
