Please tell
us a bit about yourself.
I'm the oldest of four girls and married the oldest of
four boys. I call him Handsome. My brown tabby is twenty years old. I have two
adorable malti-poos, Champ and Jones. I do needlepoint, play mahjongg, love to
read, watch tv and movies, Jazzercise every day, and do some yoga too.
When did you
know you wanted to write?
I have written for a long time, just not books and
stories. I did everything around writing, like writing and editing four
different newsletters, great papers in college, poetry. I friend urged me to
write. Glad I listened too.
Favorite
dessert?
vanilla birthday cake with white royal frosting
Favorite
drink?
champagne :)
What kind of
car do you drive and why?
I'm a Jeep girl. Just bought a Jeep Patriot (after my
15 year-old Wrangler). I love the quick handling, the reliability, the
toughness of a Jeep.
Why Handbags?
( From your blog)
It's kinda funny why I love handbags. I have small feet, size
7 narrow; so finding shoes to fit properly is difficult. However, handbags come
in all flavors and fitting isn't as much of an issue.
Guilty
pleasure?
Diet coke, good movie, and doing needlepoint. Is that boring? lol
Mentor?
I
belong to a fabulous writing group called the Plotting Princesses. We care and
nurture each other. I would be so far behind in my publishing career if it
hadn't been for these fabulous women.
Do you have a
favorite book from your childhood?
Harold and the Purple Crayon
Favorite place
in the world and why?
I love where I live now; however, I love Colorado--the
crisp air, the mountains, the wildlife, and no bugs.
Book boyfriend…
Is there a hero in either your books or someone else’s that you would love to be
real and know more?
I pretty much like all of my heroes. They are usually the
geeks in glasses and evolved into Mr. Macho, smart, capable, loving, caring.
Sometimes, they do stupid stuff like all heroes do.
Do you have a
pet peeve?
Texting and driving.
Are you
superstitious, if so what is that superstition?
Not really.
What would you
like readers to know about you?
I like books that make me laugh and write books
that make others laugh.
No bugs in Colorado? My daughter wants to live somewhere that has no bugs. She's practically arachnophobic. I'll have to tell her this bit of news! I don't know when my feet were ever size 7. Maybe in 4th grade! I wear a size 10. Nice interview.
ReplyDeleteHi, Patricia March! and thank you for visiting with me today. I haven't seen the nasty mosquitos in COS like we have where I live. I do wish my feet were a little wider, but then I'd be obsessed with shoes, wouldn't I? lol Thank you!
ReplyDeleteGreat interview ladies.....Of course, your books always look fabulous Vicki, but I loved hearing about your likes/dislikes. UHM, champagne is right up there on my fav's also.
ReplyDeleteKimberly - this is a fabulous site!
Hi, Penny! And thank you for the compliment. As do your books. Isn't champagne divine? I've hooked lots of friends on champagne cocktails. *giggle*
DeleteAbsolutely love this cover and title!
ReplyDeleteHi, Tarah! Thank you so much. My friend designed the cover. She totally gets me and my fun humor. I'll pass on your compliment. Hus.
DeleteI love learning new things about writers through interviews like these. No bugs in Colo? I'll be right over. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi, Barb Han! I know--no bugs. They have to have some, but there is a darth of flies and mosquitos. Yeah. Hugs to you.
DeleteCan't wait to read your book..
ReplyDeleteHi, Trinity! You made my day. And when you do, I hope you get a good laugh. Thank you for posting.
DeleteVery nice getting to know you better. I used to do a lot of needlepoint but now my eyes are getting old. I still do knitting and crocheting. Love the blog. Maria Ruiz
ReplyDeleteHi, Maria! So lovely you made it over to Book Obsessed Chicks. Don't they have a nice blog? I love needlepoint. I can take a small project with me and have some down time. There's something about the rhythm of stitching that is settling and I get a nice giveaway too. Hugs!
DeleteEnjoyed the interview. I love your enthusiastic approach to life and your sense of humor, which always shows.
ReplyDeleteHi, Susan! Well, the alternative to no humor is dark and un-fun--right? That's a drag. As Handsome always said when we sat down to eat with #1 and #2, "What's the best thing that happened to you today?" They actually talked to answer that question and it is positive. So have more fun.
DeleteSeriously no bugs in CO? Gees, want bugs, come to FL. There are a zillion bugs here!
ReplyDeleteI love writing and reading humor, too. Enjoyed your interview, and now I know about you!
Hi, Dee! I have seen some bugs in COS, but not like the nasty West Nile virus carrying mosquitos which hijack the nice summer evenings. One bite and I'm outta there!
DeleteAfter I read my first Janet E book, I said to my friend something like "I like her because she is funny!" Thank you for posting today.
Vikki, loved your answers. I must say that if I could move the weather from Florida to Brooklyn and IF it weren't so expensive to live there ... I still would only go back to visit :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Florence! We all have our pluses and minuses--don't we? Most of the time, the weather here is very bearable. A modest winter, glorious spring and fall, and a few very hot summer days. In COS, I love the summer. I love hiking in the summer. But snow? It's pretty, but cold.
DeleteThank you, my friend, for visiting with me. Hugs!
My favorite books are the ones that make me laugh, too!!
ReplyDeleteHi, Tracey Reid! I know!!! I was amazed when I found romance books that made me laugh. Even mysteries. I don't read that all the time, but it sure is nice when I get one and smile. Thank you for visiting with me today.
DeleteI L-O-V-E "Harold and the Purple Crayon!"
ReplyDeleteHi, Angela, my friend and fellow purple lover. lol. I have a copy I bought when my kids were very small and it is sitting in an easel on the bookcase behind my desk. Isn't it a fab book? Hugs!
DeleteHi Vicki, it is so nice to hear about you. Looking forward to meeting you. I like stories that have humor in them.
ReplyDeleteHi, Terryscar! Thank you so much for popping in. Don't we all need lots of fun in our lives? Have a happy Thursday.
DeleteOhio has been invaded by stink bugs this winter! I wish I had the talent and patience to do needlepoint! Great interview!!
ReplyDeleteHi, Sandra! Yikes!!! Stink Bugs? I can't imagine. That sounds horrific. Wishing you much success with that.
DeleteI was in Hobby Lobby with my mom many years ago and saw a Stitch and Zip needlepoint kit. The canvas was colored (no counting!) and it only used the basic stitch. I thought I can do this. And I did. Then I went to class and learned a bit more. I must confess--mostly, I do painted canvases and the basic stitch. I love the rhythm of doing the work and watching TV. So give it a try and please let me know how it goes. Hugs!
Another great interview, Vicki. I learn something new about you each time. Love your books!
ReplyDeleteHi, my True friend Cara! Who just released a new story herself. And she is fabulous. Congratulations.
DeleteI could use a laugh and now I know where to go.

Hi, Debby! You made my day. I hope you can check out my fun stories and if you do, let me know how it goes. Have a happy Thursday.
DeleteVicki Batman is a new author to me. I love humor in the books I read. I'll have to give the books a try.
ReplyDeleteHi, Lori Meehan! And I'm so happy to be here so you could find me. I hope you will check my FB page sometime and see what else I'm up to. Thank you so much!
DeleteVicky, I loved your interview and the chance to know you better. I'm sure your wonderful clean mountain air in Colorado helps inspire your writing.
ReplyDeleteHi, Sydell! I love getting to know people too. And love how the internet has brought so many of us together. Then when I meet online friends in person, it's so wonderful. I hope one day to meet you, too.
ReplyDeleteI haven't done much writing in COS yet. We've only been able to vacation there a few times last year and I spent that time fixing the place up and reading. Just reading. Oh joy!
I enjoyed the interview Vicki. Nice to meet you.
ReplyDeleteHi, Janet! Lovely to meet you too. I hope you can visit with me often. And have a wonderful weekend with a great book. Hugs,
