Texas Prey (Mason Ridge #1) by Barb Han

YES! Finally a new Western romantic suspense from one of my favorite ladies, Barb Han.

Abducted when she was barely a teen, Rebecca Hughes still lives in fear over a decade later. Her brother was taken on that day as well and he wasn't as lucky as she. So much has happened since that awful event and Rebecca has had a whole lot on her shoulders. After escaping her hometown after graduation, she never looked back, leaving behind friends and family. When her mother becomes ill, Rebecca returns home to take care of her since her parents divorced after their son's kidnapping. She's been home for some time now, but can't seem to face the people who meant a lot to her in the past, namely Brody Fields, who was her best friend and her first kiss.

Rancher, Brody Fields has been a mainstay in Mason Ridge and still after all these years, thinks about Rebecca Hughes. When he receives a frantic phone call from her after fifteen years, he knows that seeing her again won't be easy. Rebecca is in danger again as it seems that the kidnapper has returns to finish the job the job he began. Rebecca knows deep down that her brother is still alive somewhere and she has never given up hope and Brody wants to help her keep that hope alive. He also wants to protect his first love from any danger that threatens her.

Both Brody and Rebecca know that being in close quarters with one another is going to be tough since neither has gotten over the feelings they had for one another in their youth. Now their attraction sizzles like it never has before and keeping each other at a distance is really not working out. Brody feels that once all is said and done, Rebecca will run again and that just won't do. Can he trust her to not break his heart again? Can she open her heart to the only man who ever really mattered? Well, you'll jut have to grab TEXAS PREY by Barb Han to find out.

TEXAS PREY, the first in the Mason Ridge series by the very talented, Barb Han is a fast paced and wonderfully scripted tale. Her characters are interesting and have depth, they are real and emotional. This story, teeming with hope is just the sort of read this reader is looking for. TEXAS PREY had me biting my nails and then finally succumbing to tears. I thought I was going to get away without those tears, how silly was I?
