As an only child, Autumn kept herself entertained by making up all sorts of stories. For a long time, life and school dimmed her enthusiasm for creative writing. But as soon as she rediscovered her love of storytelling, she put her fingers to the keyboard and hasn’t looked back.

Her favorite books to read are mystery, thrillers, horror, romance, erotica and urban fantasy. Her favorite thing to write is romance. All of her stories have to include a hunky hero and an optimistic ending.

When she’s not writing, Autumn spends time listening to music, going to concerts, and driving her family nuts. She enjoys reading, gardening, acting, and collecting nail polish. (Her husband says she shouldn’t be allowed to include gardening in her list of hobbies, because she makes him do all the work, but that’s not relevant.)

Autumn lives in Upstate New York with her husband and their three rescue dogs. She is actively involved with several dog rescue groups and her local RWA chapter.

The more Emma and Dante attempt to shield their hearts from the inevitable emotions they have for one another, the closer these two become.

Christmas At Thunder Horse Ranch by Elle James is a Christmastime tale of suspense and romance. Both hero and heroine, Dante and Emma struggle with their inner turmoil that makes them both solitary people. Dante's loss during his time in Afghanistan makes him wary of any involvement, felling that he is betraying the love he lost. Emma has never been able to connect with anyone due to her unconventional upbringing, but Dante's presence and his way melts the ice around her well protected heart allowing her to feel things she never has before. The chemistry between these two is a big part of the allure to Christmas At Thunder Horse Ranch by Elle James, and it's a story well worth exploring.

A COWBOY FOR CHRISTMAS by Lacy Williams is a tale of healing and a tale of redemption and forgiveness. 

After Daisy Richards loses her dominant arm in a freak accident, the former outgoing young lady becomes an introvert who remains in seclusion in her family home. A shadow of her former self, she has taken to stubbornness and pity. Life without an arm is truly difficult for her and she hides her herself so detract from any attention that might come her way. 

When he father remarries and leaves her in charge of her new step-brothers while he and his bride go on a honeymoon, Daisy is met with a new set of struggles and would love to just call it a day, but ranch hand, Ricky White challenges her at every step. He shows her there is life after her accident, first by getting back on a horse, then by doing little things around the house that were difficult for her before. 

Ricky Ellis wasn't always the man his is now. He liked to have a good time with the ladies and he liked to drink and gamble, but that all came to an end when he caused the accident that claimed Daisy's arm. He knows she doesn't remember it was him, but he feels honor bound to make amends and come to terms with his new path in life. Little by little he helps Daisy in more ways and in the process, he falls for her and she for him. Ricky knows she's too good for him, but that doesn't change the budding attraction and the emotions that come out when Daisy is around. Daisy comes to feel for Ricky at first thinking he only cares for her out of pity, but then realizing he sees her for the woman she is inside and her disability means nothing.

As their feelings for one another grow, Ricky knows he needs to tell Daisy about his part in her accident. Watching Daisy emerge from the dark cloud and become more confident and accepting of her abilities, Ricky is now worried that Daisy will reject him, and that would hurt him more than anyone realizes, because Daisy trusts no one as she trusts Ricky. She has opened herself like she never has before and losing that trust in Ricky may just break her.

A COWBOY FOR CHRISTMAS by Lacy Williams is a beautiful story. So well written and so meaningful, I couldn't put it down. Ricky actually thought more poorly of himself than he actually was, and he healed along with Daisy. Each and every time Daisy makes another step to independence, Ricky is pleased, but he also sees she is quite remarkable despite all she has overcome. Daisy, while being down on herself at first, takes leaps and bounds with Ricky by her side. The friendship morphing into love was the precedent here and no two people deserved that more than Ricky and Daisy. I loved this book and will likely read it again, therefore I truly recommend it.

A Texas Holiday Miracle by Linda Warren

I knew I shouldn't have started to read this book late in the evening. Something told me I made a huge mistake. By the time I was done in the wee hours of the morning, I had cried, gotten angry and smiled. Well I couldn't put the book down until I could smile!

Since her father died from cancer, Lacey Carroll has taken up the responsibility of taking care of her step-sister Emma. Lacey leaves her life behind and moves into her father's home so Emma won;t have so much upheaval in her life. Losing both mother and father in her short life was quite enough. Lacey does all she can, except cook well. Almost everyday the smoke detector blares, an effect of her cooking. Still mourning for her loss, but determined to give her sister a good life she puts on a good face, except when she sees the sadness in her next door neighbor.

In another life, Gabe Garrison was a successful lawyer, but since the tragic death of his young son in a four wheeler accident, he has thrown his life away, left his wife and returned to the hometown where he grew up. Gabe barely survives. He doesn't eat regularly, he doesn't sleep and her barely showers. He mopes and attempts to keep himself busy by doing things around the house and take care of the ailing dog his son loved.

When Emma constantly disobeys Lacey and runs into Gabe's yard to comfort the dog, Gabe calls Lacey out for the trespassing on his property, leaving Lacey thinking Gabe rude and angry aside from his apparent sadness. When little Emma goes into his yard one time too many, he nails the gate between the properties closed bringing Lacey to her boiling point. She goes over to Gabe's house and has it out with him, spewing some things that may have been uncalled for, but in the process making Gabe finally think.

Little by little, Gabe begins to emerge from the haze of his sadness. When thanks to Lacey, he finally comes to the understanding that his son's beloved pet is suffering, he accepts her assistance in helping put the dog to sleep. Oh yes, you will cry, for this entire book is filled with so much emotion, there is no way not to feel. 

While Lacey helps Gabe overcome his sadness and mourning, she helps herself at the same time. When their new-found friendship evolves into a romance, both Lacey and Gabe are able to finally be themselves and open up, but there are things that threaten to tear the two apart and those things might be just too much for Lacey to take.

Well can you tell I loved this book? A Texas Holiday Miracle by Linda Warren is a virtual fount of emotion that will have you hugging your loved ones and your pets a little more than the usual. Lacey is one of the strongest characters I have ever come across, taking the weight of the world on her shoulders but still holding her head up high. At first, when we meet Gabe, I couldn't come to terms with him being the hero. He seemed beyond help, but with Lacey's overbearing push he changes into the man worth cheering for. I love how he calls Lacey the Crazy Lady next door. I love his interaction with Emma and his hard working personality.  This story could have been set at any time of year and it would still be exceptional, but making it happen over the holidays just gave it an extra bit of magic. For those who love a well written holiday romance, A Texas Holiday Miracle by Linda is a keeper, even if it has you sobbing first, the end is worth the tears.

Cowboy Cool (Cowboy Justice Association #5) by Olivia Jaymes

This refreshing and very sexy story brings together n erotic romance writer and a lawman. Cowboy Cool by Olivia Jaymes is a first for me, but I have already added the previous books to my ever-growing TBR pile.

Sheriff Reed Mitchell is taking a well deserved vacation away from his job. Only thing is, he really doesn't want to be away from it and basically had to be forced. On his way down to visit a buddy in Florida, Reed gets asked to check in on a woman who is a very good friend of a few of his favorite people, Ava and Logan  Kaylee Blue is a author who has been receiving some disturbing emails that have shaken her a bit, but she insists that she doesn't need anyone to go out of their way for her. That is out of the question for her bestie, Ava, who is having a difficult pregnancy and worries for her friend. Reed's being sent to her is a God-send.

Single and very attractive, Kaylee Blue writes some pretty steamy stuff, too bad her life doesn't reflect what she writes. When Sheriff Mitchell appears on her doorstep to investigate, she immediately is attracted to the handsome lawman. When Reed finds more than he expected to with an alleged stalker, he temporarily takes up residence in Ms. Blue's home to keep her safe and get to the bottom of the escalating emails. When Kaylee gives Reed one of her books to read he impressed with her writing as well her her sex scenes. When Kaylee expresses her interest in acting out some of those scenes and then-some  Reed goes all in. When those barriers  come toppling down can Reed hide those feelings that come to light? Does he even want to anymore?

Once Kaylee opens up to the possibility of her very fantasies becoming reality with Reed, it's full steam ahead, but now someone wants to hurt her and Reed must protect her and keep a clear head. When the job is all said and done, will Reed be able to just pack up and leave, or will the heat that he and Kaylee create make him want to stay? Oh these questions and so many more are answered by reading Cowboy Cool by Olivia Jaymes.

I love that Ms. Jaymes and picked a romance writer as her heroine. The theme of her being stalked by a disgruntled reader is quite disturbing because it could happen. Both Kaylee and Reed are strong forces of nature thrown together with explosive results. I truly enjoyed this book and am eager to read anything else Olivia Jaymes. Cowboy Cool is a read not to be missed.

The Accidental Countess (Playful Brides #2) by Valerie Bowman

Reading Valerie Bowman's Playful Brides series, is like walking into a menagerie is mishaps with twists and turns that make me shake my head and then finally sign a resounding ahhhhhh. The Accidental Countess is no exception.

After recovering from his injuries from the Napoleonic war, Captain Julian Swift arrives back in England to see the woman he is supposed to be betrothed to. He has not set eyes on Penelope in many years. When he arrives at her home, he is greeted by two of her friends, who tell him that his intended is not at home, she has gone to console a friend.

Lady Cassandra Monroe has already had her share of distressing moments. Cass was supposed to become the Duchess of Claringdon, but she had no intention once her friend Lucy proved to be the perfect match for the Duke. Cass has had feelings for Captain Julian Swift, so much so that when he left for his service to the crown, she promised to write him frequently. Seven years have now passed and Julian is set to return, but his almost betrothed, Penelope, does not want to see him. She has concocted a fictional friend named Patience Banbury, who she uses as an excuse to not be in attendance when Julian arrives. 

Once in Julian's company, minus Penelope, Cassandra and Lucy find that seven years is a long time for him to recall the one who has kept him alive with the wit and wisdom of her written words. Lucy is devastated when Julian does not recall the girl who was actually sixteen when he left England. Insanity ensues when Lucy blurts out that Cass is actually Patience Banbury, and so the merry deception and begins, but to what end?

The Accidental Countess by Valerie Bowman is a Shakespearean comedy gone wild. When Lucy throws Cass to the wolves by presenting her as someone she is not, she inevitably begins a game that is more difficult by the hour for Cass to extricate herself from. Lucy sees it as a chance for Julian to become more acquainted with the woman who has been in love with him for ages, but Cass is thrown for a loop pretending to be someone she is not. When Cassandra finds out that Julian, in fact does not wish to marry Penelope, she thinks all the deception is for naught and attempts to find a way out of Lucy's maniacal plan before it's too late.

Cassandra and Julian are two of my favorite characters in this series. Throughout the entire tale, Julian is the embodiment of the perfect gentleman. He wants to properly end things with Pen before he seeks out the lady who kept him alive with her letters. Cassandra is both a mess and an anomaly when posing as Patience. She gains a confidence she didn't have in the past and this makes her character all the more interesting. Valerie Bowman has made her niche as one of my favorite authors with The Accidental Countess firmly cementing her to the top of my "to be read" list. I hope you enjoy The Accidental Countess by Valerie Bowman as much as I did, it's a tale not to be missed.
