First up is the effervescent and gifted, Beth Williamson, who also writes as Emma Lang!

BIO:
Beth (aka Emma Lang), is an award-winning, bestselling author of both historical and contemporary romances. Her books range from sensual to scorching hot. She is a Career Achievement Award Nominee in Erotic Romance by Romantic Times Magazine, in both 2009 and 2010.
Beth has always been a dreamer, never able to escape her imagination. It led her to the craft of writing romance novels. She’s passionate about purple, books, and her family. She has a weakness for shoes and purses, as well as bookstores. Her path in life has taken several right turns, but she’s been with the man of her dreams for more than 20 years.
Beth works full-time and writes romance novels evening, weekends, early mornings and whenever there is a break in the madness. She is compassionate, funny, a bit reserved at times, tenacious and a little quirky. Her cowboys and western romances speak of a bygone era, bringing her readers to an age where men were honest, hard and packing heat. For a change of pace, she also dives into some smokin’ hot contemporaries, bringing you heat, romance and snappy dialogue. Life might be chaotic, as life usually is, but Beth always keeps a smile on her face, a song in her heart, and a cowboy on her mind.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO WRITE THIS STORY?

I find inspiration every day and in many places, words and faces. Caleb’s story is the third in the Circle Eight series. He was an impatient young man, eager to take on the world in the first two books. I knew he would take a long journey and in the end, find where he belonged.
Every young man has to find their own path and Caleb is no exception. He had always lived in the shadow of his big brother and his murdered father. I knew there was a good man beneath the arrogant exterior but it took a strong woman, Aurora, to ferret him out. She was inspired, as all my heroines are, by strong women in my life. As a lady blacksmith, I gave her a profession that required her to be tougher than most. She swings a hammer and pokes a hole in the big, bad wall Caleb had erected around his heart.

Here's a little inspiration Beth had for her story!

EXCERPT:

Her eyes were closed and he thought perhaps she’d passed out. However, as soon as he knelt beside her, her eyes flew open. They were glassy with pain and were an even more remarkable shade of amber up close. Flecks of a darker shade swirled in the depths.
“Did you check the fire?”
“Shut up about the fire, Rory. I’m going to pick you up and it’s going to hurt like hell.” He slid his arms beneath her knees and neck. “Are you ready?”
“No but that doesn’t matter. You sure you can pick me up? I ain’t a lightweight.” She appeared to be serious.
“You are a ridiculous female. Shut up about everything now.” He scooped her up fast so she didn’t have time to spout anymore nonsense.
She groaned and made a funny little sound like a kitten yawning. He got to his feet with the now unconscious woman in his arms. He had to get her to the Garza hacienda but he had no idea how to get there, only that it was ten miles north.
Shirtless, he walked over to Justice with the unconscious, bleeding woman in his arms. It wasn’t the first wound he’d seen but it bothered the hell out of him. Perhaps because she was a woman.
He didn’t have time to be soft. The woman truly needed a doctor and he had to move. Justice was well trained, standing by patiently, no matter the coppery smell of blood. Although he didn’t want to do it, he had to set her belly down on the horse. He vaulted into the saddle and then picked her up, rolling her over until she lay across his lap.
Her head lolled as he started off. He could only head north and hope to find the hacienda with the doctor. If he didn’t, he’d have a dead woman in his arms within twelve hours. The blood hadn’t soaked through the shirt but she was pale as hell. That might have been caused by the fall or the loss of blood. He didn’t know which and it frustrated the hell out of him.
There was a trail of sorts through the tall grass. It appeared wagons rolled through pretty regular. He followed the well-worn path at a trot. He really wanted to gallop but was afraid the jarring of the horse might cause more damage than the additional time to get where he was going. She was pretty torn up from the branch and more injuries were the last thing she needed.
“You need to wake up Rory. I don’t know where the hell I’m going.” He jiggled her a little and her hat fell off but she didn’t respond. No doubt when she woke up she’d be annoyed he lost the ugly thing. He wasn’t about to stop for it.
Without the leather cap, her appearance softened. She looked more like a female, with soft brown hair the color of a fawn’s pelt. Too bad it was cut short. Women should have long hair. It looked nicer. He would be sure to keep that opinion to himself or she might throw one of her hammers at him.
“You finished ogling me?” Her words were slurred but she was awake.
“Nope. It’s the first time you haven’t been talking at me. Good Lord, woman, but you could talk the bark off a tree.” He looked down into her eyes. “I hope I’m going the right direction but you passed out before you could give me details on how to find the Garza ranch.”
She tried to sit up and gasped. “Shit.”
“That’s another thing. You sure as hell cuss a lot for a female.”
“Oh why don’t you shut up, Ranger. Hell, man, I can’t imagine the outlaws you chase are on their Sunday best behavior.”
She had a point yet he didn’t concede it. If she was mad, she wouldn’t pass out again.
“I found a trail back yonder, maybe fifty yards from that big tree in your yard. I’ve been following it and hope like hell it’s the right direction.” He didn’t see anything that told him there was a big hacienda nearby.
“It’s the right way. Stay on the trail until you hit the creek, then follow it north about a mile. There’s a bridge across that leads into the ranch. There will be men at the bridge with guns. Don’t shoot them. Mr. Garza protects his property.” Her face relaxed and she snuggled into his chest. “You have nice skin.”
“Jesus.” He regretted not putting on another shirt. The woman was out of her mind with pain and that made her spout nonsense. “I won’t shoot anybody unless they shoot at me.”
“That’s a good policy.” She put one blood-crusted hand on his arm. “Can I call you Caleb? It’s such a nice name.”
He choked on his own spit. “You are really going to regret everything you just said. Probably want to throw yourself in the forge to purge it from your memory.”
She giggled, startling him. “Your lashes are ridiculously long, did you know that? Do you feel a breeze when you blink?”
He shifted her in his arms, wondering if it were possible another woman had taken her place in the tree. Where was the tough Aurora Foster who had kicked his ass a few hours ago? The silly girl who had taken her place put him completely off balance. He knew what to do with a stubborn woman, but a flirty one? He had no clue.
“Don’t make me tell you to shut up again. Stop talking now. You need to save your strength.”
She stuck out her tongue. He shook his head and kept quiet. The blood loss or the knock on the head from falling out of the tree made her foolish. Either way, she would regret what she said if she remembered it. He regretted it already and it wasn’t coming out of his mouth.
The easy assignment to push off a squatter had turned into a strange battle with an unusual woman and now a life-threatening situation. A ranger was prepared for anything, but this went beyond any of that. For God’s sake, she was flirting with him. He had no idea how to respond to it. She was the least feminine woman he’d ever met.

We also have Kaki Warner here to day, have a seat my friend, and tell us about yourself and your book!

BIO:

In between her years as a mother, teacher, commercial artist, reluctant collection agent and surly secretary, Kaki fooled around with writing. Finally, after twenty-five years of procrastination, she sent her first manuscript out into world. Now, five years later, she’s a RITA winner and three-time finalist, has an e-novella and six historical westerns in print, and is busily working on her third trilogy. Her next book, BEHIND HIS BLUE EYES, a Heroes of Heartbreak Creek Novel, will be out August 6th. Then in January, she’s joining Jodie Thomas, Jo Goodman, and Alison Kent in a western anthology, BOOTS UNDER HER BED. But here’s the thing: none of that fabulousness happened until the year she went on Social Security. So, take heart, all you aspiring authors out there. It’s never too late, and you’re never too old. If you have a dream…go for it.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO WRITE COLORADO DAWN?
For one thing, I wanted to create a hero who could rise above a disability with which I’m all too familiar: Dyslexia. And I also wanted to center the story around two of my favorite things: the American West, and a Scotsman. I’m a big fan of throwing my characters into unfamiliar surroundings or situations, then watching to see how they react. In my first book, PIECES OF SKY, I tossed a proper (and pregnant) Englishwoman into an all-male household on a New Mexico ranch. In COLORADO DAWN, I dropped a career cavalry officer into a dying Colorado mining town, where no one cared that he had fought in India and the Crimea, or that he was a Scottish Viscount, or that he was accustomed to getting his own way. They just didn’t want him taking their friend (and his runaway wife) back to Scotland.

EXCERPT:
“I’ve missed you, Maddie, so I have.” His smile faded into something raw and unfamiliar to her. “Dinna run from me again, lass. I couldna bear it.”
Tears pressed behind her eyes. Biding time until they passed, she traced a fingertip over his lips. “I didn’t run, Ash. I drifted away. And you let me.”
“I ken I was wrong. But I’ll not be doing that again. I swear it.”
In that unguarded moment, she glimpsed the brash, handsome young cavalry officer who had captured her heart six years ago. Who held it captive still.
Yet nothing had changed.
No matter the fine words, he would leave her again. He couldn’t help it. Duty would call, and honor would not allow him to disobey, and she would be left bleeding in his wake, just as had happened before. The thought of it was an unseen weight that pressed against her heart until the pain of it stole her breath away.
Oblivious, he sighed and closed his eyes. “You make me daft, lass, so you do. But I’m no’ complaining.”
Oh Maddie. You foolish, foolish woman.
Emotion clogged her throat. Why had she opened herself up to the same heartache that had nearly destroyed her once already? Had she learned nothing?
“Ash, what have we done?” To ourselves. To each other.
He opened his eyes and looked at her. They were the cool green of tarnished copper, or the earliest spring grass, or a high mountain lake fed by icy peaks. Changeable. Mysterious. Compelling.
“Forgotten already, love? Must I show you again?” He said it lightly, but she heard the tension in his voice, felt it in his arms when he pulled her on top of him. They stared into each other’s eyes—skin to skin, heart over heart—yet separated by that unbridgeable gap between duty and desire.
“Puir lass.” Reaching up, he cupped her head in his big hands, his fingers so long his thumbs reached to her temples. “I ken you’re confused, love. As am I. But this I know, Maddie Wallace. We belong together. Apart, we’re less than we were meant to be. But together, we can be more than either of us dreamed.”
“In Scotland?” She tried to keep her voice from wobbling but failed. “I don’t need a title, Ash. I need my work.”
“You need me.” He said it with fierce certainty, his eyes hiding nothing from her. “You need me.” He kissed her lips, then her closed lids, blotting away the tears she could no longer hold back. “And I need you.” Brushing his lips across her cheekbone, he whispered into her ear, “Ride me and I’ll prove it.”

JOINING US FIRST ON THE FRONT PORCH IS LINDA MCMAKEN!

LINDA MCMAKEN is the Senior News Editor for Reader's Entertainment News, scriptwriter for COS Productions (book trailers) and writes for many other print and online publications. She is also the author of a humorous romantic comedy trilogy, The Three Baers, set in Wyoming. Her first book Baer Truth, where a vegetarian punk rocker finds herself stranded in the middle of Wyoming beef country was released last year to 5-star reviews. The second book in the series, Baer Necessities released September 2012, also to five-star reviews. Baer Facts will be released May of 2013. She is also the author of The Granite Rose, an historical set in ancient Rome.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO WRITE THIS STORY?

Ideas for books come from the strangest places. Joe Baer and the Baer Brothers sort of sneaked up on me one summer day. My family and I were taking a trip to the western U.S. with tickets in hand for the Cheyenne Frontier Days in Cheyenne Wyoming. We'd never been that far west before, so for us Easterners it was quite the adventure with long stretches of prairie, mighty rivers, and vast cattle ranches.

My thoughts however, went to the ranchers and the families that lived there. I wondered who they were, and what their story was. Then I made the mistake of letting my muse actually speak aloud (a rare thing, as her thoughts are well, weird) "I wonder what would happen if one of these cattle ranching cowboys fell in love with a vegetarian?"

After an hour of horrendous "where's the beef" jokes, my Baer brothers saga began to take shape. All it took to finish the idea was the rodeo and a few hundred absolutely delicious cowboys attired in chaps, spurs, and hats. The Baer's became a family and my imagination dropped one vegetarian named Abby Clark into their world.

When you meet Joe Baer and Abby Clark (the two other brothers appear in Baer Necessities and Baer Facts May 2013) they seem to be such opposites. She's a vegetarian with neon-streaked hair, tattoos, and a hot temper. Joe is a no-nonsense beef rancher, with a jaded heart, and a cowboy code of honor.

Outwards appearances aren't all they seem, and inside, they are surprisingly alike. They both have family issues that have burdened their hearts, both want a place to call home in the deepest sense of the word, both value family, and want to be part of a family.

Of course, they are different and that is where the fun comes in. The realities of ranch life are vastly different from Hollywood's version – but there's still magic in "riding off into the sunset" and that keeps these hearts together even after they discover the Baer Truth.

The Baer Truth

"Please, call me Mike." The ranch foreman smiled, starting the engine. Making a hard u-turn, the truck slid across the pavement.
Abby fastened her seatbelt and grabbed the handle above the window.
The truck fishtailed across the ice, but Mike didn’t slow down. "I hope you don't plan on going shopping very often." He turned the wipers on. They screeched painfully across the glass. "It's a fair piece to the nearest store. We plan far in advance for shopping trips, so you'll want to keep a list for pantry purchases."
They pulled off the main road onto a gravel road. He made several more turns onto smaller and smaller gravel roads, until they reached a rutted, one-lane dirt road. Suddenly the dirt road gave way to a smooth blacktop drive that wound around snow-covered banks, atop which a red snow fence ran as far as the eye could see.
"I think I'm going to have to drop breadcrumbs to find my way in and out of here." Abby couldn't remember ever having been so far from civilization. "Tell me, do you ever get snowed in back here?" As far as she could see in every direction was nothing, absolutely nothing, except hills, snow fence, trees, snow, and huge mountains.
"Occasionally we've been snowed in for a few days. We've got snowmobiles and we can get out for supplies with them."
A lump formed in her throat that refused to be swallowed.
"We've also got the Cat and the Deere with plows and shovels."
Abby had no clue what he was talking about, but as long as those things could get her out of this desolate wilderness, she liked them.
"Nobody's lived at the cottage for awhile. I had the boys go in, knock down the spider webs, and make sure no snakes or anything was living inside, but they don't always get everything. You aren't afraid of spiders and such, are you?"
The lump on her head began to ache. Mike's expression was kind, but odds were she was about to face those things, afraid or not. "I can't say I care too much for them."
"Well, snakes are hibernating this time of year. But they can move about when you start disturbing them. I'll have the boys leave you a hoe just to be safe." The truck slid across the blacktop road. Mike chuckled. "That was fun."
Abby pushed a hand against the dashboard, her mouth becoming suddenly dry. "A hoe? What do I need a hoe for?"
"For hacking the snakes' heads off, honey." Mike was matter-of-fact.
"Hack its head off?" The ache in her head turned to throbbing and was joined by a rumbling nausea deep in her stomach. "Couldn't I just call you or one of the men to come and--" she shuddered-- "hack the thing?"
"Sure, but we're usually out in the field or up at one of the cattle barns. It could be awhile before one of us could get it for you. By then it could disappear under the floor only to pop back out in the middle of the night and snuggle up with you in bed."
"They're cold-blooded, you know, and they like to find a warm spot to sleep. So it would be best if you just hack them when you see them."
Her head swam. Her vision turned gray and began sliding into black. She had gone from a bad dream to a horrific nightmare. Abby pinched her thigh, wincing at the pain. Awake. She was awake. The nightmare was real.

SCOOTCH ON OVER ON THAT PORCH SWING, VERNA CLAY HAS STOPPED BY TO JOIN  US FOR SOME SWEET TEA AND CHATTER...

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF, VERNA: I have always loved reading. At the age of six, I toted my Sleeping Beauty storybook everywhere and read it again and again. In grade school, I switched to Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys Mysteries. But in high school the romance genre became my favorite forevermore.

In my late twenties, I began writing song lyrics, poems, and children's stories. I even sent a children's story to a publisher (it was rejected). However, because my own children were small and I also worked full time, I simply did not have the time (or discipline) to devote to writing.

It wasn't until I had an empty nest that I decided to put words to a story that kept circling in my mind. After a week or two, I slacked off. Soon, however, I disciplined myself to pen something every day, even if it was just one sentence. After many months, I finished the story and began writing query letters. To my surprise, after several rejects, it was accepted. A year later I saw my first published work as an e-book. I was so excited! During that year, I wrote three novellas and also saw them published by two different publishers.

Since the self-publishing market was hot, I decided to test the waters. Immediately, I became frustrated because of a lack of understanding of the formatting process. Countless hours were spent studying the subject. I also devoted my time to learning my craft (an ongoing process). One of the best things that happened was when I sat with an editor who red-marked almost every sentence in my manuscript. I learned more in a few minutes than I had in months. Now twelve books later, I can say with certainty that even though many times I thought a career as an author was hopeless, I'm so happy I didn't give up.

AS ARE WE! ONE OF MANY LESSONS TO LEARN IN THIS BUSINESS, GLAD YOU HUNG IN THERE! TAKE NOTE, ASPIRING AUTHORS, BE TENACIOUS!! ;))

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO WRITE THIS STORY?
Before writing this story, my foray into the western genre was a contemporary series entitled Romance on the Ranch. While writing those stories, I fell in love with the western genre. Because I find mail-order brides a fascinating subject, I challenged myself to write an historical novel. While writing Brant and Abby's romance, the next two stories started to gel. After working for months on this project and not knowing how it would be received, the wonderful reviews have brought indescribable joy.

Abigail retied the ribbons of her straw hat and opened her parasol against the early afternoon sun. The second driver handed her trunk down to the first driver and it thudded on the ground. Next, he dropped her small valise and the grizzled man below caught it and set it on her trunk. "There ya go, ma'am."

"Thank you," Abigail said politely.

The driver was already climbing back atop the stagecoach. With a flick of his wrists and a shout, the horses pulled the coach across the street to a stable. Abigail glanced at the blacksmith's shop next to the stable and noticed a long-legged man leaning against the siding. He held his cowboy hat in one hand and lazily watched the stagecoach occupants. Even from a distance, she could see he was lean and broad shouldered, with black hair that brushed the collar of his denim shirt. Too young, too handsome.

She turned her attention to another man exiting the general store next door to the hotel. Maybe that's him. He wore a suit a decade out of style, but looked distinguished in a countrified way. He was very short, but carried himself proudly and had a pleasant, boyish countenance for a man probably in his forties. Please God, let that be him and not the one with the missing teeth or the one with the gun.

A voice spoke from behind her, "Miz Vaughn?"

Abigail turned and stumbled backwards. The lean cowboy from across the street—with eyes that she could now see were the same color as the cloudless sky above them—reached out and caught her by the shoulders before she fell on her backside.

"Y-yes?"

"Ma'am, I'm Brant Samson."

Tamara Hoffa's HEART OF A SOLDIER reviewed by Pat Sheppard

Soldier Jameson Hunter faces the battle of his life: winning the heart of Charlotte Mackenzie, widowed mother of a young recruit.

Uncle Sam wants you.  Well he really wanted Evan MacKenzie,  but not if Charlie MacKenzie had anything to do with it.  Charlie was determined to not let the military get the only man left in her life.  Her baby, her one and only child.  Well they had another thing coming.  She was standing her ground.  Until she landed in the sinkhole called Chief Warrant Officer Jameson Hunter.  All thoughts of fighting just seemed to vanish when she looked at the broad shoulders, those absolutely tuned biceps, and  listened to that voice.  In the end how does the slogan go?  "Be All you Can Be".  Well Charlie was the best he had in a long time.  CWO Hunter did not get her son but he got something even more important, he got her heart.

I thought it was a great novella to entice someone with.  I went looking for her on Amazon to see what else she had written.  In the short story category I would give it a four. Only a because she put several months onto seventy four pages. Good read overall!

REVIEW

OMG, someone give me a backpack and point me in the direction of Scotland.  If I knew that going hunting for ghost in Scotland would land me an extremely excellent lay and a gorgeous hunk in the end I would have been there a long time ago.  The book starts off with an adventure to fulfill a longtime dream, it wonders into a kidnapping, an unplanned escape, and then a bump into a ghost that just happens to be guarding the most sexual man of her dreams.  But there is a catch.  There is a curse and we all know that the key to all curses are? Hah did you think I was going to tell you?  If you want to know how it ends, read it for yourself!  I promise you it will be worth it.

SOME DAYS YOU JUST NEED ONE OF THESE RATINGS! :)

Deadly Sting by Jennifer Estep

Today we have reviews by two lovely Book Obsessed Chicks of DEADLY STING by JENNIFER ESTEP
Releasing March 26, 2013

Jennifer Estep has a talent for packing a lot of action into a short period of time as occurred in prior books in her Elemental Assassin series. In this latest chapter in the life of Gin Blaco, also known as the assassin the Spider, Estep keeps that going.  Gin is talked into attending the high society social event of the summer, the showcasing of former fire elemental mobster Mab Monroe’s art collection, at Briartop, “Ashland’s largest, fanciest, and most highfalutin art museum” by her foster brother, Finn.  Gin and Finn no sooner arrive at the tony affair when trouble explodes, with Gin and her friends right smack dab in the middle of it. A group of thieves disguised as waiters and security at the museum gala corrals all the guests, minus Gin Blanco, as hostages and begins to collect all the hostages’ valuables as well as the art treasures in the museum. Much fighting, bloodshed and mayhem ensues as Gin strives to prevent the thieves’ escape and the further loss of life of the hostages.
In the middle of saving the day at the museum Gin faces her former lover, Owen Grayson again who has asked for a time-out in their relationship following Gin’s elimination of his murderess ex-fiance.  Is the middle of a major art heist the place to talk through their issues?  Probably not.  Estep saves serious talk between the two for later in the book, as well as Gin tidying up punishment for the real mastermind behind the art robbery attempt.
Gin Blanco once again shines through as an assassin with a heart, but also stays true to character with her incredible skills.  Although this time around Gin learns that the strength of her abilities with stone and ice can’t always save the day. Recurring appearances of the major secondary characters from prior books add to the flavor of the story and makes this a great follow-up to the earlier books in the series. The thrilling action sequences and the interrelationship exchanges between the characters made this a great read, one I had to finish in one sitting.

41/2 STARS

Deadly Sting
Jennifer Estep has done it again; Deadly Sting is another great addition to the Elemental Assassin series. In the 8th book in the series, Gin Bianco is back and so is the Spider! From the moment I picked up the book, I couldn’t put it down. I read Deadly Sting in one day, it was that good.
Gin is attending a party at Briartop that is showcasing Mab Monroe’s priceless collection of jewelry and art. While reluctant to attend Gin gives into her curiosity and agrees to attend the party. She is more concerned with wear to hide her knives then the type of shoe to wear with her red gown, much to Finn’s disappointment. Shortly after arriving at the party, things go from bad to worse in a matter of minutes.  How can Gin fight off a bunch of thieves set on stealing all the priceless jewelry and art and will she save the group of hostages being held in the museum?
Deadly Sting is filled with non-stop action! Finn, Bria and all of Gin’s friends are back for another round of action. There is so much more that I could write but it would give away so much of the book, so you just have to read it yourself.

Geek Girl and the Scandalous Earl by Gina Lamm REVIEW BY LISA MARIE

GEEK GIRLS OF THE WORLD, UNITE!!!!!! “Geek Girl and the Scandalous Earl” by Gina Lamm is a truly unique take on the whole Regency Historical Romance genre.  Jamie Marten is your a typical computer loving, smart phone having, World of Warcraft playing geek girl of 2013.  Imagine her shock when she is sucked into a mirror and dropped into 1816 England.  At first our Hero Lord Micah “Mike” Axelby, Earl of Dunnington believes her to be an intruder and a Courtesan due to her lack of proper attire. (Of course she was wearing a tank and shorts, she was working in her friend’s Grandfather’s 300 degree storage locker, duh!)  Being the gentleman that he is, he offered her a place to stay, even if he didn’t believe her convoluted story about being from the future. More like a mother to Lord Axelby than a maid, Mrs. Knightsbridge takes poor Jamie under her wing and begins her “Countess” Training, but it seems as daunting of a task as teaching a chicken to be a swan. No two could be more different and yet these two were destined to be together. As our story unfolds, our pair discover that no matter how hard they try, no matter how angry the other makes them, they learn that the heart wants nothing to do with what the head is telling them.  Now throw in a honest to goodness spell casting witch (double, double, she causes A LOT of trouble!) and a psycho ex-lover (no, seriously, like make sure you check your stock pot for boiling bunnies and your bed for horse heads, cause this bitch is cray cray!) and things get very spicy.  The “parts we don’t talk about with our Mother or Clergy” were steamy and sticky in just the right combination. I enjoyed the hell out of this story and only hope that this wasn’t a one hit wonder from this author.  Being a self proclaimed nerd from way back before it was cool, this book called out to me and it did not disappoint one bit.  If you enjoy funny, smart, thrilling, scifi, supernatural, SMEXY AS HELL books, then I expect this to be added to the top of your tbr pile.  ::sigh:: I’m not gonna lie, I just tried sticking my hand into the mirror on my bureau and was sorely disheartened to find that there was no Colin Firth type Earl waiting for me on the other side... just a wall... that I really need to paint... oh well.  Happy reading my little deviants :)

Shelly Laurenston~ Wolf With Benefits~ Reviewed by Michelle Boone

There’s nothing like a good-ol’ boy wolf. And ace security expert Ricky Lee Reed protects, serves, and seduces with all the right moves…But the more he sees of Toni Jean-Louis Parker, the female he’s hired to protect, the more he’s howling for her.

There are so many wonderful things to say about this book. As you can see I gave 6 out of 5 stars, but I would have given 20 out of 10.
We get to visit not only Ricki and Toni, but almost every other couple we’ve been introduced to over the years. In most books you get to hear the voice of the hero and the heroine and maybe one or two other key characters, but in this story you get so much more. She pulls you into the story with humor and drama, giving us a glimpse at characters we love from the past, in their voice that brings back those happy feelings. Now most people couldn’t pull this off and still give each character their own unique personality, but Shelly Laurenston isn’t most people. She has a way with words that have us readers actually laughing out loud with tears rolling down our cheeks. More than once during my reading I had my family looking at me as if I was nuts.
If I was to be asked who my favorite person in the book was, I don’t think I could say for sure. We were introduced to so many new people, but old favorites were in the story too. You get to see DeeAnn do her thing of being scary and skulking, and staring down a hardened criminal with her yellow eyes that makes him embarrass himself and offend the senses of everyone. We got to see Bo being his schedule crazy self and Blayne trying to soothe ruffled feelings after Bo has either beat physically or emotionally. She also lets us revisit Ronnie Lee and her hubby Mace along with many other from the Reed clan including the Reed’s mama Tala.
If I were to name all the voices that get a chance it would take me another page to describe them, so let me just throw out their names. I’ll also add that the glimpse of each character was enough that you remembered each and every quirk they had. You had Jessie and the wolfdogs, Miki, Sara and Angelina, need I say more? Mace and Ronnie along with Reece and Rory Lee. And let’s not forget the Van Holtz pack and Irene.
This story also introduced the Jean Louise Parker family. Not only were they shifters, but they were a rare breed. Toni’s family was a large pack of ten kids who all but Toni were prodigies of some sort. You will fall in love with all the siblings except one, and I won’t spoil that for you, but you’ll have a hard time deciding which one you love the most. My personal favorites are Freddy, Kyle and the twins. Freddy is so darn cute and adorable I wanted to jump into the book and hug him. Kyle had me wanting to shake him and be him all at the same time, and the twins…They scared the crap out of me. And then you get to meet Toni’s best friend, Liv, who I think might actually fit in quite well with DeeAnn, only in a much tinier package.
I honestly didn’t want to finish this book, because then the wait for the next would begin. Usually there is something I could say I didn’t like, or wish was different in most stories, but there is nothing I could say negative about Wolf With Benefits. Shelly Laurenston’s writing stands apart from the crowd with her wonderful mix of humor, romance, and alpha males and females that make you want to be a part of their world.
There should be a warning that comes with all Shelly Laurenston’s books that say in bold letters “Warning…Do not read while drinking anything that you don’t want coming out of your nose.”
